Get to know us - Mavis Bernard
Could you introduce yourself in two sentences?
"Hi, my name is Mavis, 32, and I live in The Hague. I have done several courses and started with Business Economics in Delft, Media, Information and Communication at the HvA and – somewhere in between - Nutritionist as well."
How long have you been working at JP Gray and how did you end up here?
"I worked in the hospitality industry for a very long time and I had been shouting for years that it was time for me to get out. Now I have been working for JP Gray as a customer journey consultant for almost a year. I got in here through Demi – a former JP Gray employee."
What success moment during your career at JP Gray will stay with you forever?
"Sounds super cliché, but there are actually a lot of them. The sweet thanks, phone calls and emails I receive from our ambassadors when they feel heard and helped. That's when I know I've done my job well."
What characteristics should a good recruitment consultant possess, and do you think anyone can become a consultant?
"I don't think anyone can become a recruitment consultant, because you really need a lot of perseverance and empathy. You need to be sales-minded and be able to move on well when you have a setback. That means you have to be solid. Certain things can be taught, but certain qualities you must possess yourself."
Do you have any good or fun tips for your future colleague?
"If you don't quite know what recruitment entails, it's good to take a look at 'JP Gray for a Day'. We are a young group of people with different educational backgrounds and experiences, and that mix makes it a lot of fun to get into in terms of the team, who want to help you in all areas."
