Head of Learning & Development EMEA & APAC

Location: Amsterdam

The main purpose of the role:

  • Work with key business leaders in the Region to identify learning needs
  • Design and build a Regional learning plan to meet these needs with learning interventions
  • Lead, develop and grow the Regional L&D team - of L&D/Senior L&D Consultants/L&D Managers (in collaboration with Global L&D resources) - to deliver best in class learning products
  • Deliver leadership development training and coaching to drive capability
  • Partner with key senior stakeholders on performance initiatives

The key responsibilities:

    • Effectively and efficiently deploys the group L&D strategy into country, agreeing the deployment plan with local leadership and global L&D
    • Delivering interventions across management and leadership development, sales techniques and soft/core skills
    • Advise and guide key stakeholders on people performance improvement opportunities
    • Support organisational/corporate projects as and when required
    • Champion the Learning and Development function
    • Utilise core content and ways of working from the global L&D team - while customising for regional needs
    • Provide coaching and mentoring to the country leadership teams
    • Provide strong values led leadership with appropriate levels of direction and coaching to the local L&D team
    • Be an active contributor and member of both the Global L&D function and regional Leadership Team
    • Supports management of the regional learning budgets - ensuring investments are measured and tracked
    • Identify and manage 3rd party suppliers, where appropriate, ensuring strategic alignment and return on investment
    • Partner with regional MD, leadership team and Heads of HR and TA to build a regional learning plan
    • Ensure regional needs are reflected in a global L&D plans
    • Coach and development of senior stakeholders leadership capabilities


Required skills:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Fluency in Dutch and English
  • Delivery of significant people performance improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrable experience building relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Experience operating independently and autonomously in a Region, whilst accountable for delivering a wider learning agenda
  • Changing performance using multiple methods
  • Facilitation of large groups
  • Leadership of national teams
  • Experience of coaching managers and leaders
  • Knowledge of psychometric and other assessment tools
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of management, sales and personal effectiveness theories and techniques
