Commercial Strategy manager

Role: Commercial Strategy manager
Location: Amsterdam (2 days on-site: Tuesday & Thursday)
Contract: Freelance / Independent Contractor (6-month assignment, with potential extension)
Hours: 40 hours per week

Position:

This role is a senior strategic position within a FinTech-focused environment, where you will drive high-impact initiatives aimed at improving financial products and reducing friction for users and partners. You will own and execute strategic workstreams from ideation through to launch, using data-driven insights and close collaboration with cross-functional teams. It is an ideal opportunity for someone who combines strong analytical thinking with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, ambiguous setting.

Responsibilities:

• Drive strategic initiatives within the FinTech business unit to reduce financial friction for both customers and partners
• Own and lead one or multiple strategic workstreams from ideation through business case development, approval, and implementation
• Conduct detailed analysis by gathering and interpreting complex datasets, translating findings into actionable insights and recommendations
• Support the development of long-term strategic vision and enable data-driven decision-making across the organisation
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders including product, technology, operations, and legal to ensure alignment and execution
• Structure ambiguous problems by defining key questions, building frameworks, and identifying solutions
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and influence decisions without formal authority
• Develop clear and compelling narratives tailored to different audiences, including senior stakeholders
• Contribute to capability building within the broader strategy team

You have/are:

• 5-7+ years of relevant experience (strategy consulting or strategic roles within tech organisations)
• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills with experience in business case development
• Proven ability to manage projects and stakeholders in complex environments
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to simplify complex concepts and influence decision-making
• Experience or affinity with FinTech, financial services, or technology is a strong plus
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
